I have caved in to peer pressure many times before in my life. One of the most memorable times to me was when I was in sixth grade. At a school dance, I was hanging out with my friends when a very unpopular girl decided to join our group. Normally, I wouldn’t have minded. I’ve never been known to be mean or unaccepting of anyone. However, my friends were very upset with this situation and urged me to ask her to leave. Eventually, I did cave, and I asked her to leave us alone for the sake of pleasing my friends. As a mature young adult, I now have a better understanding of the absolute unimportance of status in your group of friends. All that really matters is where you stand with yourself.

My greatest achievement to date is graduating from college, finally. As the quote goes “third times a charm” and that exactly is the case for me. When I was 19 I wanted to be a cop so I enrolled in a community college 120kms away from my home to get away from my parents. Bad idea, I didn’t pass anything, first because I didn’t understand and second because I was having too much fun hanging out with my chums. Second time around I decided to combine my love of computers with my love of law in a course called Computer security and investigations, another bad idea. I didn’t pass anything because I was lazy and there was too much reading and writing and not enough doing. Third time I just stuck to computers and found a college that was 100% hands on and passed, finally!

I consider one of my great achievements to be making it into All-State Honor Choir in my high school years. Music has always been my life, and when I decided to try out for this prestigious group I practiced incredibly hard in both sight-reading and my solo performance. However, the actual experience of completing the rehearsals and performing with the choir was definitely my greatest achievement, simply because the hard work I put into preparing for the audition did not even compare the countless hours and energy put into rehearsing for the performance. It was truly a rewarding experience, and I will always be proud of what I achieved during that time.
