Tiger still says that “If more people would have known in my inner circle, they would have stopped it or tried to put a stop to it.” If putting a stop to it meant that Tiger’s people and the Enquirer make a deal to buy off silence and an interview exclusive for Men’s Fitness, sister publication, as Lawton says, then yes, Tiger’s people stopped it.

In August 2007, Woods had an interview with Men’s Fitness, but the magazine says there was no special arrangement as Lawton claimed. Yet ESPN points out that “a former Men’s Fitness editor-in-chief told the New York Post in December that the cover story was in exchange for silence regarding any affairs.” What is Steinberg saying about all of this? Nothing so far to Vanity Fair or ESPN, and Woods buddy Byron Bell – who allegedly arranged travel so mistress Jamie Jungers could play with Tiger – is similarly mum.
