Caribbean Economy Failing To Shine Like Sun
By admin
Tourists are being advised to continue on their Caribbean holidays as a destructive hurricane season passes with relatively few lives lost and economies eager to rebuild.
Hurricane Tomas killed 14 people in St. Lucia at the beginning of November. The destruction triggered a total of $13 million in payouts from the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) to Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent. Whilst the speedy recovery of St Lucia (surely the worst hit of the islands) has been a healthy suprise, the destruction has been a ammunition for those in the Caribbean who feel that the economies there aren’t entirely sustainable. The only positive from the season has been the fact that all twelve hurricanes failed to make landfall in the US, which is obviously a key source market for the islands.
With the wider Caribbean economy so heavily dependent on tourism, the bad weather has been less than fantastic news. Whilst some islands like Trinidad and Tobago have remained resilient due to oil and gas resources, the reliance on timber and agriculture aside from tourism puts a lot of investment in resources that can be easily destroyed by hurricanes (as happened in St. Lucia). Critics have said that the Caribbean islands need to diversify in not just what they rely on, but in who: analysts are pointing to Latin American and Asian economies for growth.
Of course, the sun hasn’t stopped shining in the Caribbean. A trip to Barbados, St. Vincent, the Dominican Republic or anywhere in the Caribbean is the safe bet for tropical warmth and beauty that it’s always been. However, the Caribbean no longer has a monopoly on this image of tropical paradise, and that’s the futher facet of the problem. Mauritius holidays are a fantastic Indian Ocean destination, and responsible for much of the European Source Market’s fickle attitude to Caribbean destinations in the last decade. Tourists are also finding new tropical destinations, such as appealing Thailand holidays for a continental tropical climate.
Toronto the most populated city in Canada!

Ontario is the one of the largest provinces in Canada, and it’s capital is Toronto. Thanks to tourism, Toronto has earned a status across the world, meaning that people across the globe have fallen in love with this glorious city. This city is on the east coast of Canada in the province called Ontario.
Almost 2 and half million people live in this city, making it the most populated city in Canada, and the fifth largest in North America. There are many factors that have made Toronto one of the biggest financial centres on the planet, one factor being tourism. Toronto is home to some of the most amazing wonders in the world, and has its very own unique ones to share. The best known Landmark in Toronto has got to be the Freestanding Canadian National Tower, it towers at around 554 metres tall.
There is a stadium called the Sports Stadia that was the first stadium across the globe to have the famous Retractable roof system. This stadium is home to at least two very big sports teams, the Blue Jays, and the Argonauts, the Blue jays play Baseball and the Argonauts play “Canadian Football”. This is one of the most famous stadiums in the world.
Toronto has many attractions but probably the biggest isn’t even in the city, it lies about fifty miles away and it is Niagara Falls. Toronto is the closest city and it has been named as its biggest attraction. 50 miles to see this beautiful waterfall isn’t that much of a trek, and a visit to Toronto means that you would have to visit.
Now if history and geology is your thing, then you should pay the Royal Ontario Museum a visit. Much like the natural history Museum in London (England), this one is split into several sections consisting of an Archaeology, Geology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology section. This makes it any history and geologists dream attraction.
Toronto holidays are well worth the while, and so are Vancouver holidays, which I will discuss in my next blog, Canada holidays are the new American holiday, which will you visit?

Have you been debating where to go for Christmas this year? It would appear that two holidays are going to be more popular than the rest. Kiing holidays have always been considered the Christmas holiday, because they are covered in snow and surrounded by conifer trees. Skiing holidays are not just Christmas holidays; they don’t all happen around the winter time. Because of the climate around the world, you can go skiing somewhere at almost any time of the year.
Remember that we are talking about luxury Christmas holidays as well. Skiing holidays generally are very luxurious, but when you compare them to these they are very different.
