To achieve the highest possible score, here are some tips:

The project must have space for plants, trees, and other vegetation.
Add plants and trees of different types. This can make up as an educational tool for students.
Place pedestrian pathways that are available for residents around the area.
Maximize the use of the daylight.
Develop energy efficient buildings by making use of sustainable energy like solar panels, wind turbines, etc.
Consider adding greenhouses for growing plants.
Photovoltaic lighting system, when strategically placed, can have huge effect on energy usage.
Use an advanced recycling method such as those suggested by Multi Recyclage.
Use strategies/materials that helps catch rainwater.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Give high priority on alternative transportation like bicycles, and public transportation.

This rating system is made for new constructions and major renovations, for existing schools that have not undergone major renovations but wants to become LEED certified, they can do so by using LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance.
